Covering the Beatles

Billy and Dad made a playlist of Beatles covers called “Beatles Beyond.” Billy’s two favorites on the playlist are “Yesterday” by Ray Charles and “Hey Jude” by Wilson Pickett. Dad’s favorites, on the other hand, are “Yesterday” by Ray Charles and “Hey Jude” by Wilson Pickett. Here’s our list:

Hey Jude” – Wilson Pickett (with Duane Allman!)
“Yesterday” – Ray Charles

“Come Together” – The Meters

Here Comes the Sun” – Peter Tosh

We Can Work It Out” – Stevie Wonder

“Maybe I’m Amazed” – The Faces

Let It Be” – Joe Cocker

“Things We Said Today” – Dwight Yoakam

Got to Get You Into My Life” – Earth Wind and Fire

In My Life” – Johnny Cash

We challenge you to submit your own best Beatles covers. What is better than our songs?

  1. Uncle Newtie says:

For a bad movie, “I Am Sam” has some good covers —

    Sarah McLachlan, “Blackbird”
Aimee Mann and Michael Penn, “Two of Us”
    Rufus Wainwright, “Across the Universe”

Nina Simone also has a good “Here Comes the Sun”

  2. Chris says:

I didn’t love the movie Across the Universe, but I did like T.V. Carpio’s “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”
