Best of the Blog: Our 100th Post

Billy and Dad are celebrating our 100th post by reviewing the best videos we’ve dug up.

First up, there’s Caetano singing the Beatles’ “You’re Gonna Lose that Girl.” It’s such a charmer because every music lover identifies with him – just singing a tune you love, a little bashfully, a little triumphantly. There’s a sweetness in how he sings both vocal parts – “You’re gonna lose that girl – you’re gonna lose that girl – you’re gonna looooose that girl . . .” It’s a good first song for our purposes, because it neatly communicates what we’re all about: loving music.

Next, we have Sam and Dave singing “Soul Man.” An obvious choice, because of how absolutely cool Sam and Dave are – their band too, for that matter. But the video has an added charm because of the German squares they’re serenading. You get to see a little soul stirring in them, though they don’t quite know what to do with it.

Now, contrast the German audience with a much more spirited audience: the 70s kids of Sesame Street. This could be one of the best videos ever.

Irene, daughter and sister, says of the following video: “Look at what America has created: the most joyful, crazy dance ever!” Amen.

Here are a few posts that we like, too.

Awesome post, guys. At first, I didn’t think i liked Caetano singing ‘You’re Gonna Lose That Girl’ but when it ended I actually really did. I especially like the part where Caetano sings “If you don’t treat her right, my friend, you’re gonna find her gone.” Or something like that. I listened to the beginning of Dave and Sam, and I thought it was OK. The Sesame Street ‘Very Supersticious’ was HILARIOUS. As for the Hellzapoppin Swing Dance Scene, You said it Irene!
